Trauma Informed Yoga
May 10, 2023 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am EDT
Join this unique yoga class designed for parents and family members. This yoga session welcomes all levels and is based in trauma-informed yoga postures and movements.
Here is a list of what to bring to yoga for OPLM participants.
- Comfortable clothes- to move your body in, like stretchy pants and a supportive top. Whatever attire that stays put and won’t need to be adjusted so you can stay in the zone or “flow” of the experience.
- Yoga or Exercise Mat- if you have one it makes a difference but it is not a prerequisite.
- Blanket- for comfort in kneeling, forward folding poses and/or for relaxation.
- Yoga Blocks- if you have them.
- Bare Feet- to grip your mat and tune into the grounding experience. Don’t worry if you want socks, it’s your choice!
- Water Bottle- to stay hydrated as needed.
- Strap, Scarf or Belt- can be used to help you adapt the poses to suit your body.
- An Open Mind- Bring a willingness to be with yourself in breath and body for 60 minutes. This is the only essential thing you really need. Remember, this is an experiential practice meant to rid the body of stress in preparation for the relaxation response (like a big sigh of relief) at the end of each class.
